Chickenpox has landed at my family home!

My baby boy has caught chickenpox which is common childhood illness that children catch at some point. My daughter Grace caught her chickenpox from her friend in school, which has spread to other children and my baby has now got it too.

Chickenpox tends to affect children under ten. Most children have had the infection by this age.
In older children and adults, chickenpox can be more severe.

Treating Chickenpox

There is no cure for chickenpox, and the virus usually clears up by itself, even without any treatment. However, there are some things you can do to help ease the symptoms.

Always speak to your GP before you provide your child with any kind of pain relief.

Try to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.

Calamine lotion, if your child's skin is very itchy or sore, you can try this lotion, it has a soothing, cooling effect on the skin.

If you need more information, there are plenty on the web, they give more details on this symptoms that can reassure you that this virus will soon pass.

I am not an expert on this virus so check with your pharmacist or GP if you are worried, its better safe than sorry! Your child might need a medicine that is best given by the professionals.
